Update: CTN – Cargo Tracking Note to Cotonou Benin

Very important information for shipments to port of Cotonou Benin:

Further to announcement from General Management of Customs Authorities in Benin, please note that as from Sept 1st 2019 (discharge date), all containers and Roro shipments for destination Cotonou will require a Cargo Tracking Note – this includes cargo in transit –

It is shipper’s responsibility to supply the Carrier with the CTN, which needs to be inserted in the body of the Original Bill of Lading and manifests.

Steam Ship Lines will be still accept and load cargo not yet covered by CTN, but please be aware that no release of originals, or PAD will be authorized without CTN in place.

If the CTN number is not provided before vessel’s arrival at destination, the cargo will NOT be discharged, but kept on board and returned to its origin Port of Loading, at Shipper’s expenses.

There will be no regularization at destination of CTN  after discharging.

Documents needed to file the CTN:

  • Scan of the bill of lading
    • Scan of Commercial Invoice
    • Scan of Freight Invoice
    • Print out of Declaration of Export
    • Packing List
  • Scan of Original title
